One of these peaks is part of the protected Merck Forest and is one of the classic walks. Down in the valley near
Dorset, meanwhile, is an off-the-beaten-track ramble to one or two
of the abandoned marble quarries, always full of fresh water -
swimming hole perfection! These quarries created stone for some
of the USA's great buildings. We also trek up Mt. Equinox for fine
views of southern Vermont.
